Talk about “here there and everywhere !!”, Gorton Visual Arts has outreached a programme of Visual Arts opportunities and engaged so many older people at The Debdale Bowling and Social Club , Inspire Taskforce , and of course with our very own group member’s.

Really busy and very productive sessions, which have been a lot of fun !!.

Using some of the very successful activities we developed and sent out, to many isolated older people during the Pandemic, we reintroduced some of these, to offer a chance for people to produce something they could take home after the workshop session, and display in their homes.

Firstly we delivered the very popular “Mosaic Coasters ” activity , then our ” its a material world” fabric activity, then the “designed mobiles ” activity and finally an opportunity to really challenge people and deliver some ” Watercolour Landscape ” studies and “Sunflower” life studies, which have proved to be very popular and fulfilling for people.

Here are some images from the ” Sunflower ” life studies workshops with our group members and the good people at Inspire Taskforce.

And with -The Inspire Taskforce .

The “Created Mobiles” activity went down really well, and was enjoyed by all , at both the Debdale Bowling and Social Club and at Inspire Taskforce.

The “Watercolour ” landscape studies with the Debdale Bowling and Social club , was inspiring, and yes a real challenge for everyone , but with some very positive results .

Well done everyone , your efforts and endeavours , have been rewarded !!.

All workshop sessions were funded by The Covid Impact Fund for Mental Health Fund .

This past week gave us an opportunity to extend with our group members and anyone else who would like to join us , people’s “Sunflower “life studies. The task was to choose one study each, and simplify into shapes with chosen added colour. We used “Matisse ” Cut outs as a reference for this , as we asked people to likewise and cut the colours from coloured card. The results are wonderful , so sit back and enjoy !!. This activity is part of our ” All in a days work ” Project.

We are very proud to announce that we have been nominated for The People’s Choice Award as part of The Manchester Culture Awards. The award will be featured in The Manchester Evening News and it is a public vote. So any votes will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all your support.
