Well we finally set off to fly the Kites on Monday the 27th June; weather was predicted to be good with light winds {13mph}. A 16 seater bus packed to the rafters {16 people, kites, film crew and equipment on board, sweets and CD.s to singalong too} fingers crossed …what possibly could go wrong!!!!!

Destination Talacre Beach near Prestatyn North Wales and backup Colwyn Bay, on arrival at Talacre we were instantly at war with the wind, kites blowing away and group members chasing after them along the beach…this was never meant to be a comedy  !!!!.

Plan B ……Colwyn Bay here we come! Wind conditions better, Aperio Film Company positioned and ACTION, the kites are released, passersby are bewildered, dog walkers along the Promenade come to a halt at the sight of 12 older people and people with learning difficulties flying their personally designed kites, reverting back to a childhood pastime with smiles that could light up “Blackpool Front”!!!

The bus journey home was full of relief, singing, and even a rendition of collective kazoo playing by the group members ….great material for an Alan Bennett Play.
