Our Grand opening was a huge success with over 100 people attending including the Deputy Lord Mayor Harry Lyons. The opening event took place on the 6th November , we were joined by the Bellevue Brass Band, Gorton’s Young at Heart Group, Original Employees from Beyer Peacock, Gorton Local History Group and Residents From Thomas Regan and Patrick Roddy Court. A few words were spoken at 12 o clock and the Mosaic was officially opened by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Manchester. The brass band played whilst traditional refreshments were provided including Hot pot, Manchester Tart and Eccles Cakes.
Of course the press were there and our Funders, this shot was requested for the Co-op communiy trust fund, no doubt it will be appearing in a newsletter soon! We also took everybody on a trail to view the second part of the Mosaic on Patrick Roddy court.
The group also sold four individual mosaic panels which capped off a perfect day. Thankyou to all who attended this event and showed your your support!
