We are applying to Umbro Industries for a new Project , Umbro Industries is a new initiative from Umbro geared towards giving potential Manchester based creators the financial backing they need.
“And so it begins” A visual textile collective piece of artwork, in the form of 11 football shirt’s containing screen printed and embroidery imagery relate to the Gorton Origins of Manchester City Football Club. The finished shirts will be exhibited and a winning design used for a local under 16 football team.
The Project will give up to 20 Elderly and isolated residents of Gorton the opportunities to share and develop their artistic skills with other members of the local community including young people. We hope to exhibit the finished football shirts at Manchester City Football Club or the Whitworth Art gallery textile department. This project aims to combat the assumptions of what elderly people are capable of and especially in an Arts deprived area such as Gorton.
